calls-for-entry

As I am curator of a downtown Montreal Gallery space, as well as a practicing artist and teacher in fine arts, I will post calls-for-entry for artists on this page. I will be calling for specific thematic exhibitions, as well as for general calls. Please check back!

A note: due to the nature of the space, I cannot exhibit 3D works. I love sculpture, but alas cannot show it. (Wall relief-style stuff is ok, though.) Thanks for your understanding!

CALL FOR POETS

Do you write poetry? Are you interested in reading some of your work during the exhibition "Poetry" at Fleurbain?

Poets are invited to bring up to three pieces for an evening celebration of the written and spoken word being part of our verdant life in this city. The event will be in the evening of February 18.

The event is held in conjunction with Natasha Henderson's Poetry paintings exhibition, works that use the forms of the Sonnet, the Ghazal, and the Haiku in a visual way.

Interested writers/performers please email Natasha at fleurbain@gmail.com ASAP to indicate your interest. There will be an open mic portion to the evening, however, if we have your name we can add you to promotional material (good for all of us!) Authors will have the opportunity to sell their books. Light refreshments will be served. Unfortunatey I do not have funding to pay (though I would like nothing more than to be able to do so!)

Visit Fleurbain at 460 St Catherine West, Unit #917. See http://fleurbain.com/

CALL FOR ARTISTS

Art and Architecture: Art by Architects and Art about Architecture.

We move through a variety of spaces in our day-to-day lives: at home, in transit, at work, in commerce, at play, in the park, in the stadium. From the public realm to the private, we live within these spaces within our city.

If you create 2-D work (painting, mixed media, print, drawing, photography, etc) that reflects something about the ideas of space, the mix of constructed and natural formed spaces that we enjoy in a city, please consider submitting work for this exhibition.

The exhibition will be held in Fleurbain (460 St Catherine West, Unit 917, Montreal) from Saturday March 3 to Tuesday April 17. The exhibition will be curated for space, appropriateness to the theme, and how the work all fits together. If you are interested, please email Natasha directly, following the procedure below:

Email the following:

*Up to 8 images of the work you propose for the exhibition, no larger than about 800 pixels in either direction, jpg format.

*Corresponding list (PDF or Word) that matches the images with titles, size, media, year, retail price. (Please note that Natasha Henderson Art (operating within Fleurbain) takes 40% of the retail price)

* Your CV outlining previous exhibitions, of schooling in the arts (or architecture), collections, awards, etc

*an Artist Statement

to: nhen@videotron.ca

No later than February 15th, 2012.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: Cross-Pollination

This exhibition is a little bit about biology, a little bit about culture. On a micro scale, what happens when an artist combines media? Drawing with ceramics. Film with dance. Painting with textiles. Writing with cooking... In a natural setting imagine a flower crossing with another. A new flower comes to life. Perhaps this flower will only last one generation. Perhaps this flower can save the world. On a macro scale, imagine different groups sharing their information, working together to reach new goals, previously unimagined. New dreams.

This exhibition is about any and all of these things, and more. Cross-Pollination. Give it some thought, and send me your proposals. I invite you to suggest talks you would like to give, art pieces you would like to display, and more.

The exhibition will run from April 21 to June 3, 2012. Space is limited, and the show will be curated by Natasha Henderson Art for appropriateness to the theme, to the space, to Fleurbain's mandate of Verdant Life in the City.

Interested Artists please Email the following:
